Ruby is seven years old. Her pawrent adopted her three years ago.
A year ago, Ruby was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in her front left leg. Amputation and chemotherapy were the best treatment for Ruby at the time. Ruby lost one of her legs, but the cancer was in remission.
Unfortunately, the cancer returned a few months ago and has spread to her lungs. So her pawrent's focus is now providing the most comfort for Ruby while she's waiting to cross the rainbow bridge.
Ruby is fluffy and was so calm and friendly when I met her. I love stroking her thick but soft, thick black fur. She loves to play outside and would chase squirrels when she was healthy. Now, she just enjoy the breeze and fresh air. She patiently waited at the entrance door while her pawrent was getting ready, and when she was ready to go inside, she would again patiently wait in front of the door.
Ruby's pawrent is a cute young lady with a big heart. She apologized to the tree when she picked a leaf from it to play with Ruby. She immediately won my heart! The love of Ruby's pawrent is displayed through beautiful, large oil paintings she drew herself, the nickname she calls Ruby, the gentle strokes, the hugs, the nose kisses, and the ramp she built next to her bed to help Ruby climb up.
I am honored that Ms. K allowed me to capture their bond and love.
Ruby and Ms. K will always hold a special place in my heart, not only because of their endearment of each other and how warm Ms. K’s heart is, but also because they are my first client for the Tilly Project: End-of-life pet photography.
11/19. I texted Ruby’s pawrent to check on them and she informed me that Ruby passed the rainbow bridge on 11/11.
