Da Nang, Vietnam

Our trip to Vietnam was the first time we traveled just the two of us. I was nervous but also excited.

We flew from Jakarta in the morning and arrived in Danang close to noon. After exiting the airport, we spotted the driver from Kua Casa, where we stayed in Danang. Tips: look for accommodations that offer free airport pickup!

First in our itinerary was Cho Bac My An Market, the Dragon Bridge and Son Tra Night Market. Cho Bac My An Market is said to be home to the largest variety of local food, including street food, smoothies, and noodles. We ordered a Grab to take us to the market. We arrived at around 2:00 pm, and all the stores were already closed! Feeling disappointed, we walked around and found a small food section with several vendors selling rice noodles. We decided to try. The food was delicious. The portion was too small.

Grab is super cheap in Vietnam, so we ordered another one to take us to Han Market, which is housed in a two-story building and hosts vendors selling a variety of dried fruits, coffee, handicrafts, T-shirts, shoes, and accessories. It was hot inside the market, and nothing really caught our eyes.We decided to wander around the neighborhood and spotted Aroi cafe on one of the street corners. We ordered our first coconut coffee and immediately got addicted.

Before our trip, I was Googling the Dragon Bridge like a madwoman, trying to figure out how to get there and where's the best spot to see the fire and ice show. Apparently, you can walk from Han market to cross the Dragon Bridge, so that's what we did. We had plenty of time before the 9:00 pm Dragon Bridge show, which only happens on the weekend, so we checked out the Son Tra Food and Night Market.

It was cloudy in the afternoon, creating the most dramatic, gorgeous sunset we’ve ever seen.

The Dragon Bridge fire show began promptly at 9.00 pm. People were in awe when the Dragon breath fire, and they moved closer to get better pictures. Without warning, the Dragon then burst gallons of water, sending people running in chaos. It was quite funny. We got back to the hotel wet, sticky, and tired. But we knew we fell in love in Vietnam.
